    Reconnecting Smith Hidden Spring Hinge

Is there a trick to reconnecting Smith hidden spring hinges without breaking them? It looks like these should just pop back on but I'm having no joy so far:

Mine did this and I'm returning for warranty. Sorta looks just like yours. I ended up with duck tape to finish my ski trip and drive home.

I'm sending them in too since I can't see how to reconnect without damaging them. The spring hinges never felt solid or secure like other glasses I own.
