Malakhov's crashes like he rides, huge and intense.

Hope he is oké, love his runs.

commentator: hmmm he didn't really do anything, maybe he missed some features there.
me: oh thank god, this guy is taking it easy.
the constant "go big or go home" comments are off putting after those crashes.Ich bitte dich nur, weck mich nicht.

And Slement lands on the rock on his big huck. Sorry about all the posts but this is nerve wracking. Just hoping we get through this thing without any more traction worthy scenarios.

Did Mayr just land on the exact same rock as Heitz? that section where they all keep crashing looks so crap snow wise. with this and last years avalanche issues fieberbrunn is not making a good impression.

According to the Norwegian news, Risvoll broke an arm and his back in two places.

With all the crowns, avalanche scoured areas, and piles of debris, it looked to be very challenging conditions. Those that stomped their lines sure were impressive. Seemed a few of the guys were making some very poor choices under pressure, on a venue that required precision rather than pure balls. Entertaining though.

Challenging for sure and entertaining in the way a trainwreck is. Women and SB men were a lot more relaxed. It's one thing if five people mess up a 360 off some bump and double eject in powder, it's something else when five people do major tomahawks down a steep, rocky face. I found the commentary pretty jarring at times.
"yeah lotsa pressure on this young man who wants to go to alaska, oooooh uhoh well looks like that was too much pressure. safety is really important to us, see how many guides we have? Crunch time!!! here this next guy is also under a lot of pressure! let's see if he does better. Oh, nope, guess not. Did I mention how important safety is to us? Here, watch this video of riders training with recco detectors while our guides scrape him off the hill. we will resume shortly with the next guy who is under a lot of pressure and wants to go to alaska. wooohooo! Crunch time!!!"Ich bitte dich nur, weck mich nicht.

Man, ugly crashes for sure. Isn't the point of the FWT format to wait for good conditions for the events? Not avy debris war zone bullshit?
So what happens to the guys that don't qualify for Haines? They are not pre-qualified for the following year, right? Do they have to go back down to FWQ events and try to qualify back in?
Bummed for Mikos. I had the pleasure of (attempting) to ski with him a day last year, dude is the definition humble ripper. He's one of the best technical skiers I've seen, it looked like he had some trouble adjusting to the European venues that favor more open lines and bigger airs.
