Beaver Creek sidecountry slide
Word of a partially buried snowboarder in Y chutes today. We had some nasty hoar develop last week that may be the culprit.

I'm not familiar with the terrain so I don't know what the slope angle is.
Forecast for Vail/Summit zone on 1/25 was Moderate at all elevations.
"The most likely place to trigger a large avalanche today is on a wind-drifted easterly slope. Slabs of snow 2 to 4 feet thick rest on top of weak and sugary snow that formed last week. In areas that are sheltered from the wind there is still a risk of triggering a dangerous avalanche although slabs are smaller and 1 to 2 feet thick.
Today avoid slopes that were previously wind loaded. These slopes will look smooth and rounded. Also important today will be managing terrain in sheltered areas and being aware of where a surprising avalanche will carry you. Staying away from terrain traps and steep open slopes that end in thick trees are some good ways to manage your terrain choices."
Primary problem was Persistent Slab on all aspects and elevations. Secondary was Wind Slab on NE thru S near and above treeline.

Could be as highs as the 40s in there. Hard too know from just the one photo. It undulates a lot in there.
