Keefer Lake Lodge-New Kid on the Block
Just returned from one of Canadas newest cat skiing operations, Gostlin Keefer Lake Lodge. To say we hit it right on the money is an understatement. Jeff Gostlin- GM of the operation and lodge was our guide on this trip which was filled with an incredible crew of skiers such as Matt Reardon, Chuck Patterson, John Witt, Aspen Witt, Dan Nelson, Amie Engerbretson, Photographer Jeff Engerbretson, Tommy Frey, Justin Miller and Daron Rahlves.

This new operation sits in BC's legendary Monashees and it has over 36,000 acres of skiable terrain plus a state of the art newly constructed timber frame lodge which sits on the shores of Keefer Lake.
Day One- Temps in the negatives and a 20cm reset of Blower Pow. Gostlin brought our crew up up to one of his higher runs where we were treated to some open glades that choked down to some nice tree skiing. With the snow coming down hard the trees were where we wanted to be. The tree skiing was pretty damn good but I could see that some additional glading could definitely make it stellar. One of the things that Jeff will need to fine tune over the next few years.
Reardon getting some Monashee Action
That night we listed to Matt Reardon play and sing "Seize the Day" the theme song he wrote and played for the movie STREIF. A couple of winters back Daron told Matt about all the experiences one goes through to race in the Hahnakahm. Matt put it into the song "Seize the Day". It was pretty cool to watch and hear this song being played as we sat around the the fireplace with Daron Rahlves.

Respect and Appreciation
Day Two- Bluebird and wide open spaces on Mt Yeward. There's nothing better than being able to let them run, turn after turn on untouched, steep slopes. We'll thats exactly what we did on this day, plenty of steep pitches off this mountain top which lead us down to the valley floor. With their new deluxe snowcat equipped with a rocking stereo system our trips back up where quick and energizing especially with DJ Johnny Witt working the selections!
It's not to often we get to do some filming across from another hillside but with the openness and their extensive cat roads we nailed some nice long shots.

Day Three- Our final day was low key as we knocked out the interviews and skied more untracked snow under bluebird skies. What a way to wrap up a trip with a legendary crew.

Too bad you hit it during one of the worst coverage years there in a longgg time. Last year was double the base at this time.
How did you find the initial cat ride up in the morning? Thats quite the lodge up there compared to what used be known as keefer madness.
Lots of alder down low still eh?www.skevikskis.com Check em out!

We still had a pretty damn good time. Only got choked out by some Alder once after that we stayed a little higher and had some great turns and some fun times in that new lodge. Looking forward to the next visit already.

Oh I am sure, never a bad time doing that. Sorry, wasn't trying to sound negative it is just crazy this winter the lack of snow in that zone. It has recently turned around pretty good with some big dumps but it was a very localized drought until the past couple of weeks.
That lodge is crazy. Was the glass elevator going?www.skevikskis.com Check em out!

Been skiing in that area for a really long time. Jeff is super nice dude, and I am stoked to hear that things are working out for him. With the historic snow pack glading and alders aren't much of a problem... Unfortunately the tide has been super low ( compari timely) in this area this winter.... Although with the recent accumulations, things may be perking up.

Jeff is a good Dude and he has a solid crew working with him. Yes this was a work related trip on our adventures traveling the legendary Powder Highway.
