This is an old trip report, 1989 about this time of year.
The top of The Ribbon, my tips on the left. Doug Coombs in the middle and Frank Silva on the right.
Just beyond my right tip is the crux of the matter.

    I'm enjoying the exit pow!
This is a much better approach from the Blackmore trailhead up Hyalite Canyon south of Bozeman.
    Enjoy!

Awesome! Great oldschool stoke. Your user name though, is it some kind of avian flu?

So many photos show Doug's arms in that same attack mode. What were you guys on, turny little 203's?

Yes, well arm waving was a bit more popular and necessary I guess! Doug was always on 203-204 slaloms and I raced slalom on 207's that is what those yellow atomics were.

In the late 70's to 90's I was often on 210 GS skis but really liked a 207 slalom for chutes at Bridger or Big Sky.

I probably quieted my hands sooner than a lot of my buddies and Doug certainly did but wow those skis huh?Click image for larger version.

Here I am really waving my arms October '78 top of the Big Colouir. I was on leather low top boots, Ramer bindings and 205 Hexcell slaloms( like you can't get a stiffer ski!)

1984 The Third Virtue, B Bowl, a little quieter upper body and I'm on 210 Atomic Red Sleds ( a nice soft GS ski).
Fun stuff! We are lucky today!

On my desktop the username is Tom, on the mobile is one of those m/random number things, is that what you're referring to? iirc those were from Facebook-registered accounts, but I'll look in to it when I get home this evening.

TJ! It was thirty years ago Paul Dix chased Jim Conway, Doug and I among other around Bridger all winter. He had over 900 shots of me and this one was a full page in Rolling Stone. Within two weeks Warren Miller called and I got to travel with the greatest band of skiers in the day.

When I named the Virtures I was way in to reading Carlos Castanada and mystical stuff. It came to me that the four virtues fit those chutes perfectly.
Deviated Septum ( the Rolling Stone shot) is off The Nose and next to Nasal Cavity. I had deviated septum surgery and that name fit so well.

I have read about the scene at Bridger in the mid-eighties...

in 1979, I tried to get to UofM to study bears with the Craighead brothers --

I have always wondered If I would have ever found my way to Bridger
( in the end, our-of-state tuition wasn't going to happen. But I spent a day in 2000 listening to stories about Montana State and skiing the northwest...
after school, Steve spent two years at (Mt.) Baker...
'forget GoreTex : commercial fishing wear. '
'If there was less than Forty inches, we hated to go out...'
( Baker got something like twelveHundred inches that year ( Yes : A hundred FEET of snow ) )

Thank you for the Good memories... ! tj
