Sad news from Crystal...
CRYSTAL MOUNTAIN, Wash. -- A 64-year-old woman who was apparently skiing by herself has been killed in an avalanche outside the boundaries of Crystal Mountain.
A member of Crystal Mountain's ski patrol spotted avalanche debris on Thursday. On closer inspection, a backpack and a partially buried person were seen.
The person was unresponsive. The ski patrol used probes and rescue dogs to search the area.
The woman was found at 10:52 a.m.
Crystal Mountain said she was apparently ski-touring alone in the backcountry when she trigged the avalanche. She was apparently going uphill when the avalanche occurrred.
The avalanche probably happened Wednesday. Crystal Mountain said the asphyxiation is the apparent cause of death.

I went out to Bowl 4 around 11 today and found massive amounts of rocks right off the ridge, barely hidden in the hollow snow. From the looks of previous tracks I wasn't the only one either. Picked my way down to the memorial and traversed skiers R to where they had been bombing. Following the tree line on the L yielded amazing turns; even Chak Chak was fun
