Yesterday was a great day for climbing... our ski was a different story. We climbed Leuthold Couloir hoping to ski it yesterday but it was icy as hell and had a giant runnel down the middle of the choke, probably from last week's rain. So we opted to go up and over down Old Chute.

My partner somehow managed to loose a crampon about 1.5k from the top which slowed us WAY down... Sunset from the summit was beautiful but skiing boilerplate in the Old Chute by headlamp was spicy. Still a beautiful day on the Hood though and it was hilarious when we surprised the crap out of some drunk people milling outside Silcox blasting by in the dark.

The boy and I are headed to Bachelor Saturday til Tuesday.

It looks like precip is in the forecast. We are praying hard to all deities for a cold snap to accompany the wet.

Hoping to connect with Bend mags, if you can stand spring break invaders.

Sounds awesome. If my friends don't convince me to go to Meadows I'll probably be coming home to Timberline on Saturday. Crossing my fingers for colder weather.

It's that time of week again: anybody headed up to hood tomorrow? It looks so enticing, you know you want to!!

Grumble...grumble... Gotta get laps in before the tropical-trip next week and my logistical-window is very narrow.

Probly rocking an an orange shell but I might be swapping out for rain gear... Edited: forecast now calls for mostly sunny!!! So maybe just follow your nose

Based on history, what is likely to be open at Bachelor around the middle of May? The wife and I are thinking about a weekend trip then and Bend is a strong contender. She's never been to Bend. This wouldn't be a ski trip by any means, but I could definitely see getting in a few hours if conditions are still good.

Nice spot to be in mid may. AC nailed it. There will be a small window during your day that it is good corn. So many good things to do there, a few turns in the sun being one of them! (Breweries, mountain biking, hiking, climbing, golfing, etc being other nice activities...in no particular order)

Yeah, that's ideal really. By then is it just the front side of the mountain open?
