HOW MUCH DOES A DEVICE CHECK-UP/REPAIR COST?
The costs vary from country to country.

The cost of the service amounts to 19.00 € + sales tax + shipping.

The repair cost amounts to 42.00 € + sales tax + shipping (for new devices), and 100.00 + sales tax + shipping for old devices (old devices are more expensive to repair and an almost new device with a 1-year warranty will be returned to you).

I should mention that a couple years ago I sent my 3+ direct to Ortovox in CO and they updated the firmware for free, but I don't know if they did a check.

They must of kicked the dude in NH to the curb.
Not surprising, as he was kind of a dick.

Pretty sure Ortovox's safety check consists of giving you a refund so you can buy a different beacon.
