Anyone have a 1993 VW Eurovan MV - autotrans issue
I have someone offering to trade me a 1993 VW Eurovan MV and the trans is stuck in 2nd gear. It is an automatic. I don't know anything about these. I don't know if it is an electronic issue or the trans itself. Any thoughts are welcomed. I'm getting it for almost nothing. Every good condition except this issue. Thanks.

Pretty standard for those vans to need a transmission. They eat them constantly. Sorry I quit VW so I have no links to share

SAMBA is probably the best and seachable forum for VW stuff.
I don't work and I don't save, desperate women pay my way.

Do you know if it's been diagnosed ? Check fluid level/color. Will it shift manually from 1-2-3 ? Do you have any codes you can pull ? You will be limited to changing fluid a few times(filter if it has one) and possibly changing the shift solenoid/valve body. Auto gear boxes are a bit of a black hole and unless you are somewhat handy on cars expect to see a quote for 3-6K for a rebuild. Most transmission shops don't want to do any repair work, just full rebuilds to prevent any returns.
