That's true, but on the margin a fair number of parents are opting out.

Yeah I don't think the pool of potential pro skiers (i.e. little kids starting skiing) is affected much by the possibility of death by falling off a cliff later in life, but in football you start accumulating sub-concussive brain injury pretty much right out of the gate - it's really a given - and I think many (perhaps most) parents will have more and more difficulty putting their kids in that situation as time goes on.

Patriots trade Jamie Collins to Browns
In a surprising move, the winless Browns are buying right before the trade deadline.
Cleveland has acquired linebacker Jamie Collins from the New England Patriots in exchange for a third-round pick, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport confirmed. ESPN first reported the news.
Around the NFL will have more info on this story shortly.

Seriously, you'd think they could invent SOME kind of better helmet. I mean are these current helmets with their puny looking padding the best we can do? Hard to believe.

Yeah, there is a lot more to this one. Whenever we dump a guy he's either getting long in the tooth or he is not playing within the Belichick system. Since Collins is relatively young and freakish in athletic ability, it must be the latter issue.

Isn't he a pro bowler too?

Browns using that giant stack of picks. Cool I guess.

    Drafted 52nd overall in 2013
    Pro Bowl last year

Contract is up after this season, apparently he wanted "Von Miller money"... Chandler Jones and Collins would both be looking for ~15mil/year (Miller signed for 6 years/114.5 mil)

Crazy. Just reported that it was for a 2018 compensatory pick. Same thing the Pat's would have gotten if he walked at the end of the season.

When you need to send someone to Cleveland you have to take what they're offering.

It was for a 2017 comp pick. They'd get a 2018 if they let him walk. Hard to see that keeping him the rest of the season is worth less than getting the pick one year sooner. Must have pissed Belichick off.

Yeah they didn't just want to send him away, they wanted to send a message.

Bradford is getting killed. This cannot continue or he'll get injured for sure. Fucking O line injuries. These guys are a joke.

So is this the one game/season Cutler pulls out of his ass to keep himself employed for another year?

They used to have a contract with Riddell which weren't very good but they put money in the coffers. Think I remember that players wearing another mfr would have to pay something.
NFL are just like politicians to me now. Self-serving and in it for the "business relationships" more than the disposable players.
But it provides a reason to get together and drink, so murica will hang with it a bit longer.

Obviously the defense is now playing like they are totally demoralized. Vikes season is in a death spiral. Fuck.

    Yeah what the fuck

Vikes looked absolutely scary on D most of this season, maybe the best defense in the league. looked like they werent even trying tonight

which, combined with a swiss cheese O line and very little offensive talent, is apparentlly gonna result in a loss to the JAY CUTLER led BEARS. good Lord

Damn, BB doesn't fuck around at all. That's brutal, going from a very likely Super Bowl ring to the dumpster. Might hurt his contract situation next year too having the stink of the Browns on him.

Brady is playing out of his mind right now... if he keeps this up he could win the MVP having only played 12 games.

The Blair Walsh Project continues to horrify Vikes fans. WTF?
