SRAM: DIE IN A FIRE, PART 2

    Seriously, 8-SPEED? NOW??? FINALLY?

After analyzing their data, it dawned on SRAM that the current drivetrain issues are only in part due to the higher load on the E MTB drivetrain. In fact, the frequent snapped chains and excessive component wear we all have experienced is primarily due to multi-shifting, when we shift through multiple gears at once
So, they come up with a wide range ebike cassette that is 8-speed. Why the heck do we need 12 or 11 speeds? I want to run this on a normal mountain bike!!! Why can't Shimano come up with a wide range 8-speed cassette???? AARRRGGG!!!!!

So sram makes something you want, which you can get and actually use.

    Shimano doesn't.

And sram needs to die in a fire?

I would seriously consider running that shit. I almost always double shift as it is. And the wider & wider cassette trend is causing chainline problems that are not being addressed.
However many are in a shit ton.

They need to, because it should have been developed and offered 15 years ago.

What we really need is a 8 speed cassette, with 10 speed spacing, and roughly 11-46t gear range. And a narrower cassette body, with a zero dish 135/142mm hub.

BUT NO.....we get 12 speed, boost, and 650b!!!!

That goes from 17t to 48 in 4 shifts. no thanks. That's like a 30 rpm difference in pedaling cadence for each shift.

Personally, I'm buying shimano's 11-46 11s cassette as soon as it's available. I would actually go to 12s if it wasn't so expensive and I could get an xd driver for my wheel.

I'm looking forward to the 8-speed shimano version that is 1/3rd the cost and works just as well. Maybe a new SAINT/Zee group.

I'm sticking with 10 speed, it is cheap and it works. And when it wears out I'm going to stick with the stock 11-36 cassette, the bail out 40-42T is just making me weak. Back in the glory days I used to be able to push 32x11-34 or even 34x. Now I can barely pedal 30x with the cheater gear.

Every time I think I'm ready to go 1x I cheap out and stick with my 2x10 and you know what? It still works. Sure there's the occasional chain suck but if you're not stupid it's not really a problem.

    I love my 2x10!
Also, I feel like cadence is much less important in mountain biking than it is in road.
    No longer stuck.
