    Mattress for truck bed

Trying to figure out the best 2 person mattress solution for my truck bed/camper shell. I've seen some air ones made for that, but I'm not a fan of air mattresses. Any recs on a foam one? Ideally I'd like something I can roll up.

I was wondering about these for winter car camping. Does the plastic get really stiff when it's cold?

    I've never noticed that happening.

Or there are tons of others on Amazon.
I went to Walmart, and bought 2 Full knock-off brand memory foam x 1.5'' mattresses for $20 a piece so for 40 dollars I have a nice comfy 3'' mattress as the 6'' was a little too thick for my liking because I have overhead storage in my camper shell. Super comfy.

Memory foam turns into a brick in the cold.

YMMV. I haven't experienced this yet..and I've done probably 10 nights in my truck this season at 10-12k feet at/around 0*. Maybe if I didn't have a ton of blankets/3 sleeping bags and myself on top of it to keep it heated? Or, maybe the Walmart generic brand God's blessed me with same softness as memory foam mattress but different chemical properties.

I didn't have time to explore the Paco options because I'm headed up tomorrow and can't get them locally. My daughter borrowed my REI pad for a field trip this weekend, so I had to get something today (was looking for something that could accommodate 2 for the truck anyway). Went to Wally World and got a 4 inch mattress topper (two inches memory, two foam) and a latex cover. Feels great on the living room floor. I'll report back after having slept on it. Thanks for the input!

I've done a futon mattress in the truck bed, straight in the bed and not elevated. Down to the single digits was outright toasty in there.

Worked out pretty good. Very comfy. Didn't really bottom out, but I think since it's a big ol' bulky solution anyways, I may add another 2 inches of foam just for the hell of it. One thing for sure is it's big. Rolled-up it takes about a 1/4 of the back of my Tundra. And then you have to figure out where to store it once home.

I second this as another good, cheap, alternative. I had a low quality mattress left over from my college futon and lucked out that it fit the back of my truck. And since it's just an old mattress I don't have any issue with loading stuff on top of it as you would with foam.

Pretty basic but you can get them almost free on craigslist.

I've had some trouble with sleep over the years and found it worthwhile to invest in a high quality mattress. You have to measure because it depends on the truck manufacurer and sleeper configurations what your mattress size may be. If you can fit a regular twin, that may be your best option to buy a good Serta or Sealy mattress. However, Pete's for example are often narrower and will not fit a twin. I've tried Big Dog and it was comfortable memory foam but also got hot and sweaty,

I've got one of these Cabela's pads in XL for 2 people. Comfortable as shit, but doesn't roll up to near as small as the paco. We were up camping last weekend in 10 degree weather and I was warm and snug all night. Worth the money for sure, I imagine they will go on sale in the near future.
