I've always suspected that people who do shit like this just aren't brave enough to run in a vest and running shoes - they wear stupid outfits so they have an excuse for not being able to keep up with the real athletes.

Now I think of it, maybe that's also the thought process that makes people go ski touring in boots that weigh more than 1500 grams? Just not man enough to admit that they only do one lap because they are slow and weak.

Good thing he didn't wear the Zero-G boot! The lack of rearward ROM would have hampered his efforts.

Yeah so IME in spite of what we read on the interwebz almost all the skiers I know or have come across around here don't have a quiver of ski/ skins/boots

SO the overwhelming reason for people touring in whatever they got is that all they have is whatever they got

If it weighs over 1500 grams it's not a real marathon boot, obviously.

26.2/8 = 3.275 miles per hour (or 18 minute pace). That's walking, not running.

    https://uk.newshub.org/london-marath...-21639281.html

Apparently the London Marathon is where they have many bizarre records set fastest vegetable, fastest dressed as a fairy, on stilts ect

but then I heard on CBC the other night where the London marathon course is actualy a little short by a few hundred meters so Guiness was disallowing the guy on the pogo sticks record to which he said ... BFD I had a lot of fun anyhow

It's the Manchester marathon course that was measured wrong, no problems with the London course. Not that anybody on TGR but me cares about that.

Yeah, I don't know. Maybe a mile. Maybe. But, 26? Eh.

If he did it, he will regret this at a fairly early age as his ortho tells him the bad news from the MRI results. But, yeh, the Brits have single payer, so, bully!

Fake. Boots without a walk mode can't do 500m vertical, let alone 26 miles flat.

Good thing he chose the right boots. If he did it in boots <1500g, his record would have needed "*ski touring boots" next to it.

Joke or no joke, I actually agree with this. If you put start bib on, then you are racing. Put running shoes on and race. If you want to be on tv, run faster, not that you put some stupid outfit on... and next year even more stupid one, and in few years you end up running in ski boots.

The guy spent three years undergoing chemotherapy. If he wants to run in ski boots, let him. After reading his interview, I'm pretty sure he was going for a laugh and not trying to piss off every running weenie.
