Grips: What's Good?
I like relatively skinny grips and I ride with no padding in my gloves.
The Specialized units that came on my rig, are not at all comfortable. Hand pump and whatnot.
I've liked WTB grips in the past.

FKNA!
I'm all fucked up, so I like the Ergon. The GE1 look interesting, but I haven't seen them live. Currently I use the normal ones.

I ran Peatys from Lizard skin for a few years and they were great, seemed to wear very quickly though.
Did ODI Troy Lee grips last 2 years and those were awesome.
Trying the Race Face Half-Nelson this year and so far so good.
All are somewhere on the thinner side of grips I guess, nothing close to the big chunky ones.

I like Ergon G-e1 and G-a1 series. Very well thought out design.

I switched from lockons from different companies to the little foam grips two years ago and haven't looked back. The only downside is needing a compressor to install or take off.

I've been riding the Ergon GX1 for several years because of arthritic wrists and thumbs. Any other grip would be uncomfortable, and the very first thing that I thought of whenever riding someone elses bike.
Just recently tried out a pair of the SQ Lab 711 which is very similar to the Ergon GX1. Really really liked them and got a pair of the 711MX for my DH bike.
Damn, I liked the 711 MX grips so much they're on my trail bike now. This might be the last grip I buy. It's like a shoe with arch support, so all the pressure that was on the outside and inside of your grip is now equally distributed across the palm.
Apparently all the shit with specific saddle widths and shaped grips was developed by SQ Lab (owned by Syntace) and has been coopted by the industry claiming it as their original "science". I'm sold. However many are in a shit ton.

I'm a big fan of ODI Rogue grips. Nice and thick but not ridiculous.
(oops you wanted thin, not a great suggestion)Last edited by TahoeJ; 04-13-2016 at 11:25 AM.

If you like thin grips, look at the two options from sensus. I'm the same way, my forearms start locking up with thick grips and I love those things. The disisdaboss or whatever they're called are great.

Have used ESI chunks for years, just started using these and don't think I can use anything else from here on out. They are super comfy and give you great control.a positive attitude will not solve all of your problems, but it may annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

do people with bigger hands like/can use big grips while small hands use smaller grips? I have had tennis elbow from using kayak paddles that have a grip that is too big in diameter

I guess so. I have big hands and I cannot stand small hard grips. I have more control with thicker ones like the RaceFace Strafe.
Might have to try some extra thick silicone grips one of these days, since everyone seems to rave about them. Wolftooth just came out with 36mm ones.

I've stuck with lock ons because maybe it protects the ends of my bars a little better? The easton grips I got last year are a little chunkier than the stock kona grips plus they match my bike. Have pretty big hands and wear gloves with no padding so I like the bigger size, think they also offer a smaller diameter grip.
On the other hand my wheels are the wrong size and my bottom bracket is too low which I think affects ideal grip diameter.
