I'm intrigued, but $35K is still out of my range for a new car. Seems like a bit risky to be an early adopter here in any case - you get to be the guinea pig to see if Elon's figured out how to cut the car's costs in half while retaining the elements that make Teslas more interesting than other electric cars. I'll wait for the low-cost AWD version in a few years.

I dig it, certainly puts it in a price range that makes it accessible and a viable alternative.

I think there will be a lot of competition in the electric market soon. BMW, Nissan, Chevy, Kia all have EVs already, all the others will have them soon. Tesla lost over $800Million last year, they're going to have to sell a lot of cars to become profitable. I don't think I'd risk $1000 for a car that may not be what they claim or may not ever exist.

However, if I could drive one off the lot today I'd probably have one.

    This..

And it'll be interesting with the top set of 200k people getting the $7,500 rebate... and how that drives the competition with the Bolt, which should be rolling off lots this time next year.

decent enough looking car, and the range is good @ base price, I wonder what expanding that up to 250 would take.

Personally I like the looks of the Bolt better, but that's because I think hatchbacks are way more useful than sedans.

It'll be a long time before I'm in the market for an EV, though.

It looks like a cross between a Tesla and a Mazda. Not saying that's bad.

This is going to be an extraordinarily successful car if it can live up to the standard Tesla has set with their more expensive options.

QFT. It's like the design folks can't resist having every design element of the car scream "ELECTRIC VEHICLE!" There's definitely a market for electric cars that just look like regular cars. Remember when all of the early hybrids thought it was a great idea to cover the wheel wells for some reason?

I see these things all the time. Imagine what driving an iPad through an IKEA would be like and that about sums up the look/feel.

    Is the Model 3 RWD?

Tesla did 4.5 Billion in sales yesterday and sales are still strong.

I reserved one, even waited in line for it.

215 is the minimum, they may be 250+ when productions starts. Who knows.

But, that's what makes a Tesla "interesting" to its market. It screams "I have a hundred grand to blow on a toy, but a trendy and ecologically responsible toy."

Not really looking for a car now, but in a couple of years I will definitely be interested.

Yes, but that market wasn't making Tesla any money.

That Audi looks nice, likely a 100k car. I have no interest in an EV at his time.

I wouldn't be amazed at $100K but I think they're going to be (somewhat) less than that.
