PNW - WASHINGTON STATE SkI Tips/Recs

Was planning a road trip this coming easter weekend (March 25-29) to check out my neighbor's resorts to the north in WA.

Probably will ski Friday thru tuesday and hit

    Crystal
    Steven's Pass
    Mt Baker
    Alpental

No particular order and probably double up on one spot for two days depending on which has best snow/terrain. I love steeps and bumps.

Anyone have tips, recs, hookups, things to see, avoid?

Any particular day to avoid one or the other (like Steven's Pass and Alpental on a weekend?).

    Thanks

Avoid Alpental on Mondays, they'll be closed.

Check area websites for week day schedule adjustments heading into Spring.
Some are reducing the number of week days open...

    Alpental for instance...

As of next week, closed Mon/Tues/Wed...

Since you didn't mention my hill, I guess you don't care to ski there. More room for me.

If you're in the area, let me know. I'll show you around.

Check out this thread for more ideas:

Us Eastern folk are a friendly bunch and happy to show you around our hills (White Pass "high 12 hill" and Mission Ridge "windy hill".)

It's easy to get to Stevens and Alpental from the easterly approach, arguably easier due to less traffic and more pleasant drive overall. Wenatchee is a nice place to stay and affordable.

More importantly, you chose a weekend with a decent weather forecast.

If I wanted to spend a night near Mt Baker....where is a cheap place to lay my head for the night if I chose 2 days up there?? Bellingham? Motel6 quality is fine.

Thanks for the tip on Alpental....Guess it will have to be Friday for that if I want to avoid the Seattle crowd on the weekend.

Goto a bar, pickup a college girl, leave early for Baker from her place in Bellingham.

Alpy shouldn't be too crowded this weekend now that ski school season is over. Spring skiing forecast for Saturday. Alpy Friday is a good local vibe: look for ACH and Bobby. I might be up there for a bit Fri and/or Sat.

    Thanks guys.

Figure I will head up to Crystal in the early morning tomorrow and Alpental Friday before heading up to Baker for Sat. If its good I'll stay for Sunday and hit Stevens Pass Monday....if Baker isn't good this weekend I'll hit Steven's Pass Sunday and double up on I liked Monday.

First time skiing in WA so this is more of a scouting/exploratory trip so no big deal if I am not at the right resort on the right day...I am solo so I can't hit the BC gates or gnar anyways. I can come back next season.

Also.....I know this is the PNW, but is there any Beta on finding good long bump runs anywhere?

Good info - I am easy to spot. 6'-6" tall with silver helmet and Orange rossi bandit skis. Probably a huge blue columbia jacket as well.

Upper International at Alpental is usually pretty bumped up, then stay left on lower International near the tree line. No good zipper lines probably but you'll find bumpage.
