Trip Advice British Columbia in Early March

I've got the first week of March open to travel. We are looking for a good mix of lift served terrain, with good access to some side/back country day trips.

So far in the running: Whitewater, Red Mountain and Kicking Horse. It looks like we'll be flying into Spokane, so Red and Whitewater will save a little driving.

How is the snow in early March? Any place else to consider?

I've started to explore these places, any advice appreciated.

I got one thing to say - weather, weather, weather.
If there's any way to hold off on your booking until last minute, do it.
The difference between Revi (or KH) and Red any given day can be night and day.

I'm heading out on 2/24 to 3/1 and I'm starting to regret my decision based on the long term forecast. Hoping it changes for the better.......

Book your flight into GEG on Southwest and reserve a mini van.
Cancel at the last minute and you don't loose a dime.

Just go. What's wrong with corn? Personally I don't judge my ski vacations on how much, if any pow I get. Yeah it's awesome when it happens but that's a bonus. I always kind of laugh when people come back from a ski trip pissed off cause they got skunked of new snow. Revy, Nelson, Rossland, Golden, Fernie all great towns with great mountains and history. Super friendly people in eastern BC.

Great attitude: admirable even. Horrible advice though. Putting in a little bit of planning can make a big difference in this zone, especially in March.

Corn or powder.....he wishes that were his only options!

Rain? I don't remember seeing any videos of rain in BC?

Canceling tickets? Don't you also make some hotel reservations?

You realize that Nelson is valley bottom and the skiing is thousands of feet higher in Elevation?

About 2700 foot elevation gain, but still..mid to upper 40's F is pretty warm. 45F in town would be 35F at the lift base in Whitewater.

Anyone know if this is typical for Nelson?

Thats cuz they don't shoot in the rain we got a crew of professional skiers been all set to make the vid for 2 seasons now, they shot all the background stuff they just need some snow so they can do the lawn dart thing

BTW its plus 2 at the hill and really trying hard to rain when it should be - 10C or colder

Yeah that's common. I've been to Nelson a few different years with rain/no snow banks in town & lots of pow pow at the hill.

WW base elevation is about the same as the road at kootenay pass if you're checking conditions.

Good base at Nelson & rossland areas this year it seems.
