I like the subject, as it's an area I'd like to improve upon. Just haven't had time to go out and shoot much.

Aim for the chopping block. If you aim for the wood, you will have nothing. Aim past the wood, aim through the wood.

All three photos were taken at the Montshire Museum in Norwich, VT (just across the CT river from Dartmouth College). It is a science museum targeted at kids. There are a lot of really cool interactive displays around the complex (inside and out).

The last photo is from one of the interactive bubble displays. The display is a large round table/basin (approx 3.5' in diameter that has bubble soap in it. There is a large metal hoop with the same diameter with handles that can be picked up out of the soap. If done just right you can pull the bubble up and flip the hoop over your head so that your head is in the bubble for a bit before the bubble pops. The photo I took is from the display when a kid was trying to lift the hoop up over his head. However, he wasn't getting the timing right and the surface tension kept collapsing the bubble. The photo was taken just as the bubble's surface tension overcame the upward motion and started to pinch off from the hoop.
Here's my 3 year old trying to get in the bubble:

The dark colored wall in the background really helped create contrast to make the colors in the bubble pop out.
