G3 Zenoxide C88 170cm for Alpine: dumb?
I've wanted to get into BC/AT for a while. Problem is: I've never skied in my life (almost 30). I have plenty back country experience with snowshoes and hiking. But I know I'd need to get a solid skiing base before I attempt any AT.
I was was able to find a sweet deal on an AT Setup. About $625 for a pair of ZenOxides, Marker F12s, and Tecnica Cochise 90s. My question is: Would this setup be a waste if I mainly used it for downhill until I was confident enough to go BC? I would take a few lessons first but I'm not sure how well the ZenOxides would do in a Alpine only capacity.
Pretty ignorant ant here so I look forward to your responses.

You'll be fine. Go ski.

Get an alpine setup and learn inbounds, then when you're ready, get a tech binding touring rig. Trying to have a "quiver of one" tends to suck at both.
