517 MILLION dollars and the weekend isnt even over yet. WTF???
I just heard a report that the new Star Wars has passed half a billion dollars ...and the weekend isn't even over! When this thing is done it might make Avatar's amazing earnings seem minor.
How much do you forecast?? I'm thinking 2.5 billion....maybe 3 total....maybe more...maybe WAY more...depends if it gets decent popular reviews. Seems to so far.
Total run for Star Wars brand, including a shitload for all the action figures and other gear.... 40 billion and counting. This Christmas' action-figure and all the other gear sales?...add a few more big big ones to that number.
It sorta reminds me of that YouTube 'Gangnam Style' video in terms of outrageous numbers (2.48 Billion views so far...how much is "OfficialPSY" making off THAT???)."The reason death sticks so closely to life isn't biological necessity - it's envy. Life is so beautiful that death has fallen in love with it; a jealous, possesive love that grabs at what it can." by Yann Martel from Life of Pi

Avatar was a terribly obvious metaphor and an awful movie. Expensive doesn't make it good. Avatar basically is a knock to our intelligence, as they have to dumb down a "veiled" message to that point and Americans think it's "deep". What a joke.

The movie was fuckin epic, and it's nice to have something in pop culture that isn't trash.
I can play the video games with my kids, watch the movies with them, made Xmas shopping super easy.
At the end of the day, Star Wars is wholesome family entertainment. Keep that cash machine rolling, and fuck the haters."I don't pretend to have all the answers, and I think there's something to be said for that" -One For The Road
