Ski-mo binding heels...
First off-
I scored a second hand pair of the sportiva RT bindings at a great price, one of the heel units is broken though...
anyone have an extra La Sportiva heel they don't need?
SKIMO. com offers heel pieces individually,
which heel(s) would you recommend?
do they all have the same overall height when in ski mode?
I would like to have one with a flat touring position if possible.
What is the best frankentech binding combo out there?

Isn't the ATK RT the same binding? Maybe telemark pyrenees or another euro retailer can get you a new heelpiece.

I have a pair of Trab heels on a plate I am looking to sell for $90 if you want to go that route.

Hey Cat,
sent you a pm.
are there any minimalist race heels that have flat touring? it seems most just have the riser that flip over the pins.

Lots. Skimo.com documents which ones.

Will look again, but I am pretty sure these spin to flat. You can look at them on skimo-they are the trab race with the long plate for range of adjustment.

Whoah, nice deal there Cat!
Anyway, yes, most of them will stay in a 90-degree position thereby allowing no heel elevator, but you'll actually have slightly negative heel elevation (unless you have an adjustment plate or track), but you might have some rubbing/binding when the ski decambers (e.g., skinning over compressions, water bars).
However, the kind of "half-step" position (Dynafit marketing term from many years ago) is fine for everything except for very extended stretches on truly flat terrain.Mo' skimo here: NE Rando Race Series
