New snow in Mail Cabin was upside down, but seemed to be settling a bit during the day. Hand shears were mostly un-reactive but I did find one pocket that fractured cleanly on an old facet/crust layer. Coverage is pretty good for this time of year. Got a couple collapses in flat meadow areas that might have been due to surface hoar.

Now back to dog walking and whining about the good old days.

    Jackson Hole Roll Call 15/16!

JHMR also did give four 1/2 price vouchers to EVERY Grand pass holder. That adds rippers to visit (my buddy from bridger bowl is getting a couple) & my pass is good for 1/2 off at all Mountain Collective resorts/vice versa. There are more ways to get cheaper tickets to ski Jackson,... Which add to longer lines.

But I do get to ski Alta for 1/2 price since I have a Grand pass,...

Good sliding above 8500ft.. Got an ECT to propagate 40cm from the surface on NSF on an east aspect at 9700ft. New/old interface. HS was 90cm. Starting to look like winter out there.

There will be a gate & a short hike uphill. Patrollers told me the plan was to put some kind of fence as a deterrent.

Got down to Snowbird chasing pow last winter with my Grand Pass, it was awesome (the conditions and the half price tickets)!

One more week and I'll be back home in Jackson. It's been painful being gone for some long!

We found about 80 cm total snow depth in Mail cabin at around 8700 feet. No reactions out of tests, but the old layers were still there. Seemed to me that the faceting at the bottom was starting to turn to rounds, but still seemed fairly weak and un cohesive. Sounds like some serious spatial variability going on out there.

And I'd take a Rafter J Nation sticker for sure.

Teton Maggots! I'm shamelessly spamming you all here, I have a ton of open dates at the Hellroaring Hut. I'd love to fill those spots filthy cheap with some maggots: $150/night for maggots midweek ie Mon/Tues/Wed/Thurs. Weekends Fi/Sat/Sun are $200 for maggots. If that's too pricey or you have a super small group we can work out a deal, I just need to book some trips! Just mention you are a maggot, and list your screen name when you inquire.
    Cheers!

Woody's "MountainWeather Photo of the Week" is pretty cool......http://www.mountainweather.com

Thought I was a meadow skipper, but these folks took it to a new "level". Unique tracks in a unique place.

E/NE winds did a number, raised tracks, etc.

Here's a call for photos for the next issue of The Avalanche Review (TAR). I have a lot of text but need some good scenic/ action/ avalanche porn shots. Can send you in return a comp subscription to TAR.

    Pop me a PM.

Conditions-wise I got nothing. Cold and shallow, getting over the flu. Meh. You can hear the facets forming. Pattern change the end of the week should be interesting.

I stopped. I listened. I could hear the facet factory. Don't know if they're useful, but I sent a few pics your way.

Found fun " ho powder" skiing on sheltered mid-elevation E/NE grassy slopes yesterday. 20" snowpack composed almost entirely of facets. So much shoogar I gotta see the dentist. Will likely be useless when it gets a slab on it.

Any locals in Jackson Hole want to make some bucks?

Hi there, I know im probably in the wrong conversation for this, but does anybody know where I can contact some locals in JH to give me and my friends some ski and snowboard lessons for new year's? some of us are beginners and others are advanced snowboarders so we are also looking for some offpiste fun. We are aware that the local Ski School is kind of overpriced and idea is to save ourselves some money. Thanks for any help or advice!

Advice: Pay for lessons from the resort and do a snow dance.

I'm sure if they know who you are people will be fighting to be the one to roll out the red carpet, make it rain comp tickets on ya, and have you fuck their girlfriend.
