Ok so what about scooters?
My 9 year old kid needs a new scooter. Old shitty hand-me-down is all broked up. He wants to ride that shit in the park and on the street. Great skier. Good mtb rider. Ok skater and scooterer. What should I be looking for? I don't know shit.

Skateboard and BMX bike? Sorry I'm crusty old dude and I am saddened by the lack of skateboards I see in parks these days. (In my neck of the woods anyways...)

Look for the "complete" ones
Later you'll get into components...Last edited by acinpdx; 11-02-2015 at 11:10 PM.

Come to Santa Cruz. The skate parks are packed. The bike/scooter park is pretty empty, which would be cool if I was into that. Pump track also sees limited traffic.
OP, I know shit about scooters, but know the kids that are ripping it have handle bars that spin, so they can kick the platform around on their airs. Get one of those. In red.

Seems like a better way to go than the local Big5 or WalMart shit. I'd have to drive 2 hours to buy it at a shop so I bought direct. Rather buy up now and give the kid something real.

My boy beat the hell out of a razor scooter so we moved him up to a pro scooter. Holy shit, what a difference! So much smoother, quieter & more durable! Definitely different from big box product!

Sophomore year of College I was threatened a DUI on a Razor scooter that I was borrowing from the neighbor kid to run an errand. "Son, you need to fold that thing up and walk home"
Thats my only scooter experience... the man ruined them for me forever.a positive attitude will not solve all of your problems, but it may annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
