I have no idea why anyone would even think of dragging snowmaking guns around with one of those things. What mountain does that? If it's tough to move just wait for the cat.

Not to mention that given how our ops yahoos already behave on their snowmobiles I'm not excited about seeing them ripping around the trails on these things.

There are other videos showing them doing just fine with one gun on wheels on a work road, but going up showoff with some guns on the back is going to be difficult and dangerous if I had to guess. I don't work ops and have minimal exposure to these things (though they are fun to drive) so can't speak to all their strengths and weaknesses.
you hit a nerve, they are just making stuff up

that said, what difference does it make? they financed them for 5 years - say 800/month - what ever.

dowork nailed it - just enjoy the place - these machines don't make a difference long term

As exciting as it was to be riding along with someone who's rolled a Ranger down a hill, I would caution against doing anything that might involve driving them straight across the hill.

I'd like to call Tom about my equipment concierge and 'hospitality' cart suggestion. What's his number?

Yeah. 800 a month is the difference between paying the insurance policy or having the heat on in the lodge...wait we have neither of those things. Nevermind. Carry on.

If you want to feel like you're actually there right now, stare at Rusty's picture, turn up the speakers on your computer, and play the latest FB video (below) in the background.

DW, nothing wrong with exterior latex. 99% of painting is prep work and by the sounds of it in the video, this is going well--although I would have used random orbit palm sander.

If they are going to paint the deck boards as well, I would roll some sand into the paint so that thing is a bit less slippery.

At least it will be nice to look at when we are all standing outside because the floor in the bar has caved in.

A coat of paint isn't going to make that deck any less likely to collapse. Ever looked at the footings? They're about ready to slip off the concrete pilings

I'm not a structural engineer so I can't comment on the veracity of these claims, but if so, this is exactly why a hospitality cart is needed. I'm beginning to think no one takes me seriously around here. I need Tom's number.

Don't you guys know that they are using structural grade paint? It's the same stuff they painted Red with a few years ago.

    15/16 MAGIC MYSTERY TOUR

Half the fun of Magic is the left field risk. I mean would you really like skiing there if you didn't get that same feeling of "oh my god we made it!" after unloading the black chair? Would it be the same if you were truly confident your car won't get stolen? Isn't it a bit of a thrill to jump on that section of the bar?

If you want heat in the lodge, liability insurance, pads on the towers, and two working chairlifts, I know of some great places nearby.

But if you want the world's greatest uphill ski policy, a customer base that gets pumped about a coat of paint, and endless management decision entertainment, put on a jacket, up your life insurance policy, lock your car and stay right here.

Fuck if Magic was well run it would look like Stratton and Bromley. The great irony is that years of mismanagement has actually given us what we want.

I'm just saying Magic is a throwback. Whether it be auto theft or a full blown gladezzz epidemic you have to be ready for things that don't really happen as much in 2015, that's part of the charm.

You are correct, not every customer takes the appropriate precautions, but Magic was created before lawsuits ruined skiing, it's on the customers to figure out how to deal with all obstacles thrown their way.

I'm literally laughing here about the fact that auto-theft at Magic is associated with its throwback status. To me that whole thing has much more to do with the fact that the place is just its own bizarre little scene than with it being a throwback--but as you note it should simply be viewed as part of its inimitable charm. You're not getting any of this shit (for better or worse) at the Hermitage Club.

Carly talking about the time that someone from Magic stole her father's car is priceless...'Magic: Steeped in heroin abuse.'
