For Sale: Soldier Mountain Ski Area $149,000

    http://unofficialnetworks.com/2015/1...-area-149000-2

This seems like the real deal. Wouldn't it be sweet to own your own ski resort for that price? A bunch of random TGR mags owning a ski resort! I'll throw in $500.

That looks like a sweet area, does it snow much there?

I'm sold just based on the soundtrack to this video. Where's my purple onesie and k2 heli-dogs? Some of the terrain doesn't look half bad, especially if you could expand to the next peak. Can I just buy it and live there?

Keep in mind that Bruce Willis GAVE this area to the locals who formed a non-profit to run it. That was just a few years ago in 2012. If they couldn't make a go of it when they got it for free, it's going to be tough to make a go of it for anyone. The $149k covers what they owe the bank.

I did a story on this a few years back as a TV reporter in Boise. The area is a nonprofit and doesn't get a lot of snow, but the base is at low elevation in a high desert region.

What you might not know, is this area has a small cat ski operation that accesses some very awesome terrain.

So why so cheap? With all the pictures, between skiing, mountain biking and weddings, how could it not make a little money?

At 150K the mortgage would be, what, $500 a month?

If you can get a mortgage.

The O&M costs are what kill you. Which is too bad, because according to my facebook page there is a lot of people willing to crowdfund the shit out of this.

So buy it and make it touring and sled access only, no grooming etc, and a sick spot to party. That'll cut costs.

But then why buy it? There is plenty of that sort of thing on the National Forest, it's called the back country here in Merica and that shit is free!

They built the ski area on the wrong hill. Especially given the climate that we are living in.

It's too bad because if they would have just done this,

They could have had this. (The day we did this, the lifts were long since closed and we hiked to the top of the ski hill, which is where we then hit the snow line).
    http://hi-adventure.com/skiing-peak-...n-backcountry/

Great snow even in a "bad" snow year last year when the resort opened late and closed early.

And if they had just put the lift on Peak 1, then they'd have this for the backcountry terrain.

I live in the Boise area and if this is where the lifts were built, I'd quit Bogus Basin in a heartbeat and drive the extra miles up here all the time. But, I'm also totally happy with it has a backcountry paradise!

I will pledge $5,000 to it , but I want to see a solid operating plan, an overview of the tenure and be on the board. I like the catski op angle. And, the lift name must be renamed "Change for a nickle" and any secondary lift "SMYGSTOGTFO" and third lift "GSA"
