Pano is having an early preview wkend also. Haven't heard much beta about what it's like so far, but their nordic trails are open already so there is some snow at least.

I decided with work and sledding and skinning that I could do without a KH pass this year. First time in probably two decades that I haven't had a ski hill pass.

Had to leave early for Turkey dinner but got pretty soon after ropes dropped into Fuez.

^the thought of that gondy line kept me away.

skiing is still good here but hoping this next system freshens things up. can be variable, definitely some windcrust out there. still some nice pow on protected north facing aspects despite the +2 inversion in the alpine lately.

I was there. In line at 6:30am ish and there were probably 100-150 or so people in front of me. There were a number of tents set up... and a post on the resorts facebook page indicating the first tent was set up at 9am the day before. The line moved OK... they started up at 8:30 and I was on the gondi before 9... got a couple of laps on the Stoke before the line there got too crazy.

Snow was actually not very good at all... a lot of wind and sun and temperature inversion effect. Best snow was on the Ripper chair, but that's definitely not the best terrain. Didn't even bother going on Sunday.

I think regular day ticket is $86... likely plus GST/PST. I bought tickets at costco so a bit cheaper.

    Yeah... I hear you, though.

    That lineup is nuts!

The Avalanche Canada mountain weather forecast would have tipped you off about the inversion that was affecting areas from Whistler to Revy.

It's a good resource too for when you're wondering this winter if Fernie will get rain or snow.

Not bad. On the gondi at 9:30 and no lineup. 7 stoke laps and down to the bottom and done. Good snow all day. Surprising how spread out the masses get

Skied Emerald Peak/slide path yesterday. Great snow off the peak, fully rippable cream cheese but terrible half-refrozen mank in the slide path. At least it was tracked out down there so the breakable crust was minimal. Dropping over the other side of the col and looping around to the lake would have been the vastly better option, but the girlfriend was having no more climbing so the slide path it was!

+2 at the peak but the snow up high was staying cool and dry, with only the south aspects developing a crust above 2100-2200 meters. No surface hoar above maybe 1800ish but man is it ever huge below.

Talked with one of the avy dudes yesterday, best skiing he's had at pano ever last week. Bomber snow pack, skied lines not possible in the past but with Temps at +5 sunday south facing runs are fawked.

Coverage is good to village, weather has been -18 in the village for a week which has been good for making snow.

I have been very fortunate to ski at a lot of heli and cat areas, with a lot of different operators, and John Forrest's and Northern Escape Heli Skiing is really the top of the list. for under $700 CND ($500US)/day, all in, this is a SMOKEN deal too. Easy flights from vancouver to Terrace, and then a 15 min van ride to the lodge and skiing.
