    Ortovox zoom?

    Hi Gang,
Just noticed that EVO is having a killer deal on these, almost 50 percent off. Hard to find any reviews. Although there are some.

Uses would be 2 person backcountry teams, skiing moderate terrain, maybe 20 times per year.

    What say the conglomerate?

It's a good beacon. Essentially the same functionality as the BCA Tracker 2, but with better audio. Good for single burial searches, no multiple burial functions.

I consistently see a very short reception range on them.

Not a fan of ortovox in general.

    Nor Arva FWIW.

The case is a good shape to fit in your pants pocket, it makes a difference if that is where you carry your transceiver.

That is actually an attribute I like. It is time transceivers in general became smaller. Tracker 3 is a reasonable benchmark size.

Agree. I even think having it in a dedicated pocket on your pants is safer. People tend to carry cell phones, camera, radio etc on their upper body. This winter it was demonstrated to me, so I could see first hand what kind of interference that could create. It was terrifying! Quicker access too..
