I'm in Sonoma so I'm usually out at Annadel but obviously Napa is close, but rarely have time to get away for more than 4-5 hours. I'm curious where in Napa (other than Skyline) do you like to ride?

Jib do you know Peter, the chef at Jimtown store? He does a ride that starts at Oat Hill and goes all the way over to Aetna and then back with some fooling around up by the Palisades. He also eats rusty hammers for a mid-ride snack.

Haven't been out that way in a while (Jimtown), but sounds like he knows a bit.
Tough to get riding partners midweek.
    Especially for long rides.

I ride Angwin mornings before work and on my days off, if it's cool enough, I like to get out to the rides by Lake Berryessa.

I can't ride midweek, but I'd be down to try to keep up on a suffer fest one of these weekends with you guys in Napa or the surrounding area!

Where is that vid? Is that oat hill? I just rode the southern loop at Annadel for the first time for a 1.5 hr dawn patrol midweek and I was the only guy on it. That place is just awesome.

5 hours you would probably want to range further afield though.

Hey, Brother Jib, hope everything is OK with you and yours. Valley Fire is destroying Cobb and Middletown right now.

That is the Pope to Putah Trail. Also known as the P2P.
    http://www.tuleyome.org/index.php/pope-to-putah-trail
The newest trail to be built in Napa County.
    More trails are being built.
A mt. bike specific trail is in the works that will connect with the P2P.

I'll be riding Long Valley on Monday. Zim Zim Falls is another area that begs to be explored more.
    Tons of terrain out here.

Yeah, it's raining ash in Angwin right now.
Just got off work. Three people from work lost their homes.
The smell of smoke is thick.
Watched the smoke plume rise over the Palisades above Calistoga while at work this evening.
    Apparently Middletown is burning...

Got to check Calfire website in the morning.
Tons of people checking into the hotel (Indian Springs) looking for places to stay.

So far I'm safe. Got the sprinklers running.

Vibes to all. A buddy and his dad lost their two homes. Thankfully, his dad and 3 dogs were able to escape, skirted by a wall of flame...

    Rode back

Then I drove down to Pope Valley.

Well, my ride at Long Valley last Monday was cancelled. Roads were closed, too much smoke.
Had mandatory evacuations in parts of Angwin one mile from my house.
Advisory evacuations for my area. I stayed.
The fire is about 5-6 miles from here now. Hopefully, the offshore winds don't blow it closer my way today/tomorrow.

Tentatively planning a ride behind my house this next Tuesday (9/22), that will put me in the hills above the fire zone.
Hoping to get some good visuals.
Looks to be cool enough to get out there aways.
    Multiple hour (~5-6?) ride.
Probably on out-and-back unless I can hook up a shuttle - might exit via Oat Hill if I can make a shuttle happen...

Early start to avoid the heat. Water source available way out there to re-hydrate.

    Anyone game?

Better get out soon - it's about to heat up big time. Not great news for the fire.

Nuts man. Such a terrible, devastating fire.
