    'LATE' A British Freeride Film

    Hey TGR,

Long time lurker but finally have something I hope is worthy of posting.
Coming at you from rainy Scotland is a film set to be released in Autumn.

With Jack Mullner of Puzzle Media on board for the filming and Gregor McLellan the friendly highlander taking pics we spent three weeks in Scotland in May this year hiking, skiing and filming on the remaining snow (surprisingly a huge amount). Classic Scottish conditions made for a definite lack of spring conditions with snow falling on the peaks all the way through the three weeks.

So stay tuned on here for pics, trip details and trailer launch.

    Rob

Three days to go til the trailer launch.

We kicked off filming at Glencoe Ski Centre taking the access chair then hiking to the summit. The day set the tone for the trip with lots of km covered in trail shoes for a couple of runs. First on the open slopes of Clach Leathad then hitting up the Creise for what was my most memorable run of the trip. Sitting in plain sight of the main road is a long gully flanked by clean walls which offered a 300m descent finishing in a waterfall as so many lines do in Scotland as they melt out.

(Hopefully by Friday I will be trusted enough to post some pics and the trailer itself. In the mean time check out British Freeride on facebook for updates)

    Two days to go...

The next mission of the trip (having waited around for it to stop raining for a few days) was just along the road from Glencoe Ski Centre. We climbed two hours from the roadside and set up a base camp beneath Stob Coire Nan Lochan, an impressive peak surrounded by a huge variety of lines. We spent two days there and could happily spend another few ticking off nearby routes we didn't get to.

I skied two very contrasting lines on the first day. Starting off with an exposed 45 degree descent from the north summit of Bidean into Stob Coire nam Beith. This included what felt like a 5 minute wait for the sluff to clear the cliffs before I traversed over them to find the exit. For me this was the wrong side of scary to get very stoked over. Would not repeat.

Having climbed an equally sketchy loose rocky slope to exit the Coire (bowl) we summited Bidean once more and skied into Paradise Bowl. This line was much more suited to me with a few short turns directing me into a long straight line through the rocks and out the bottom. Fast, loose, not too much thinking required. Stoked.

We got a lot of background on this area and a few others from Kenny Biggin's book Scottish Offpiste: Glencoe. Check it out if you ever are in the area.

That was an excellent. Did not know that Scotland had zones like that.
