Wow. Got a nice debate going here and this is a lot how I sum it up.

Skiing is the greatest thing I've ever found in life. It has impacted me in every way possible. Yet, it's ultimately such an absurd thing, it's just sliding on snow. Skiing makes me want to be a happier person. The fact that it's sort of pointless in the grand scheme of things, makes me want to be a better person. It's a balancing act between chasing selfish dreams and being a good person to your friends, family, community and world.

Skiing has the ability to quieten your mind sorta like a moving meditation. Some people will get what i mean, we dont all realise cause its mostly subconscious, but we all seek a little break for all the clutter of thinking and our minds view of the world. Its just your true self and the mountain when you ski, nothing more. Some people turn to drugs and alcohol to get the same vibe, us skiers (and other outdoor high risk/adrenalin sports) get it for free! Its why its so addictive and why we chase it like nothing else matters. Cause in the end the meaning of life is happiness, so really nothing else does matter!
If you're a happy person you have a much bigger positive impact on the world and those around you. So its not really that selfish, if you think of it like that. Unless you skied full days, everyday or something like that!

Drugs AND skiing, now thats a winning combo. Fuck yeah! HAHA

Video proves what I've always said--racers (Alka) can't ski powder. They just don't get soft snow.

That stop right above the crevasse was pretty scary. Sweet looking lines.

Disagree, not sure what you are saying. From what I have seen he can ski it just fine.

    Love the Dex pic.

This quote, albeit about fishing, sums it up pretty well for me. (Just substitute "sliding around with funny looking sticks on our feet" for fishing. Cuz we all know that fishing is actually completely unimportant and lame)

"And finally, I fish not because I regard fishing as being terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant, and not nearly so much fun."

Awesome quote. Here it is in its entirety...

"I fish because I love to. Because I love the environs where trout are found, which are invariably beautiful, and hate the environs where crowds of people are found, which are invariably ugly. Because of all the television commercials, cocktail parties, and assorted social posturing I thus escape. Because in a world where most men seem to spend their lives doing what they hate, my fishing is at once an endless source of delight and an act of small rebellion. Because trout do not lie or cheat and cannot be bought or bribed, or impressed by power, but respond only to quietude and humility, and endless patience. Because I suspect that men are going this way for the last time and I for one don't want to waste the trip. Because mercifully there are no telephones on trout waters. Because in the woods I can find solitude without loneliness. ... And finally, not because I regard fishing as being so terribly important, but because I suspect that so many of the other concerns of men are equally unimportant and not nearly so much fun.”

Would like to re-word for skiing... But the cocktail parties and trout bits have me stuck. I do love cocktails!

Just wanted to blast it out that if you guys haven't been able to go to our super limited tour to view the movie in person, the movie launches tomorrow on iTunes. Vimeo, Amazon and other platforms to quickly follow.

The reviews of the movie have far exceeded my expectations. Powder, Freeskier and those frenchies over there at Skieur have all said some really cool things about it. So hope you guys dig it and thanks for the support Maggots.

Yeah, should be up this week. Trying to schedule cross-platform digital release timing is a pain in the dick.

    Conquering the Useless: The Movie

I am completely clueless on how a digital release works. I am too lazy and care too little about $10 to take the time to figure it out so I assume I just get to watch it on my wife's iPad for $10 (which I barley know how to use) and maybe get to watch it multiple times? I do like to own ski movies but also realize it is 2015 so DVDs are like beta tapes. Totally cool with a $10 one time peep if that is what this is. Trailer is epic.
