Does it have a falcon perch on the center console?

    Wagon Stoke

LF air strut is blown. Arnott lasted 10 years and 70k miles. The right one is OEM replaced 16 years and 120k miles ago.

Arnott is now a top shelf replacement and 2x what I paid 10y ago. They won’t honor the lifetime “limited” warranty. Said normal wear

The mechanic agreed to replace it with a rebuilt one I found from Rebuild Master Techs for $299. They had this one in stock. I expect the right one to fail soon too.

Total repairs and maintenance last two years approaching $5k. Wish me luck.

That’s outstanding. Since I defer to Art Shirk on all things both AMC Eagle and falconry, my money is that is him by another screen name.

    AWD electric wagon? Would buy.
Know of a pair of Fischer Ranger 107Ti 189s (new or used) for sale? PM me.

I saw an Id.7 in CH. It was more of an suv in height iirc. Still nice to see, it would be cool if it made its way to the US.

With the center of mass so low, I wonder if it would handle like a conventional wagon despite the increase in height.

The ID.7 tourer height (60.47”) is less than an inch taller than a VW Alltrack (59.6”). When I saw one IRL it looked like a wagon not an SUV.

Although the hood area is kinda tall and chunky compared to typical VW wagons.

I found two new old stock Bilstein airmatic front struts for the wagon on car-part.com for $800 total. Since the right one is so old and so many miles I don’t want to mess around so just swap it out. Plan is to install the Bilsteins and if they work I’ll just return the RMT one. They charge a restock fee but I’m ok with that. I can sell them the old rh core too.

Say what you will, but I actually love that and I’m usually into more demure car colors. I want it, but it looks like a potentially abusive relationship.

Drove past an RS6 on the side of freeway with the hood up and driver on phone.
It’s a future car the wife is open to..
sorta brought my chubb down. Thought I’d ask the wagon heads about common issues surfacing? Turbos on top of the V - subject to heat? Seals /leaks ?

My mechanic (Porsche Audi BMW & Mercedes) has told me not to buy an Audi a few times unless you definitely get rid of by 75k miles.

One of the mechanic feeds I follow had consensus of no more than 100k as well before they start w really expensive repairs. A mechanic buddy said they’re good at that point if you can do your own wrenching otherwise too pricey

I’m right there with you Art. There’s just something so beautiful about that thing that it’s got me thinking unclearly.

The turbo’d V8 in the RS and V6 in the A6 and other up range models have been around forever with relatively few issues, especially when compared to the I4 TFSi plants.

Wives tales - or their opinion is based entirely off anything pre 2011 before the engines and chassis were completely redesigned. . I’ve owned a fair number of German cars and the last Audi took me well over 150k. Did issues start adding up at that point? Yep, just like any other car of that mileage, but good maintenance kept it running like a champ until it was time to get a new Audi. Porsche runs like a top. Don’t get me started on BMWs or what’s become of that marque.

What, that they've moved into CR's top 10 brand reliability rankings, right next to Porsche?

That’s good to hear. Now they can have someone work on the design side.

In all seriousness, I LOVED Bimmers for a long time right up until I had not one but 3 lemons in a row that culminated with Munich buying the last one back weeks after we drove it off the lot after it almost killed us on the highway, going from 70 to gimp mode in seconds for no reason.

Yep. Pretty sure they've been there since before 2020. I want to say it was a Tully's for a long time before that.

    The impossible is now possible.
