Anyone have midweek days off? Wanna paddle the Trinity River.
Got one last paddle on the Wilderness Run on Cache Creek last Wednesday.
-----------------------
What a crazy day! It was so awesome.
20 miles of whitewater.

Saw tons of deer, turkeys.
Ducks surfing the waves.
Watched a momma bear help her kids get out of the river.
Saw several Bald Eagles and watched an Osprey catch a fish.
Then a HUGE coyote swam across the river right in front of my kayak.

Then an enormous wildfire started at hour two of the paddle.
(Rocky Fire/Lake County)
Watched the smoke grow into an inferno. Hours went by.
Bigger and bigger the fire grew. We were on the river for 6 hours.
Watched the smoke grow to an A-bomb sized monstrocity.

Gazed in awe, on the drive home, as the fire swept up steep slopes and ate up terrain.
HUGE flames. Fire personnel all over the road on the way home.
Stopped on the highway to watch the hundred foot high flames eat up a beautiful ridge.

Absolutely amazing day!

One more day on Cache Creek. Tomorrow before work. 8 mile highway run.
Then they turn the water off - two months early due to the drought.
Dammit!

I want to paddle Hawkins Bar to Weitchpec. 40 miles.
Maybe not all of it at first, but want to check it out.
See if I can paddle the entire way in a day by the end of the summer.
