maybe its a regional thing, but stop buying fancy dogs and hit the pound
i know many of you gain identity through a canine and opine about the perfect breed to increase your rep.
sadly a dog will never help you achieve a 9.2/10 status or increase your skills by even a modicum.
too many pieces of shit choose not to work and decide to breed canines
if you buy a fancy dog breed for status or whatever you a fucking bootlicking piece of shit
go to the pound and get a dog you uppity posers

I agree. We are also far too dog obsessed as a culture. You don't need to own an animal or three, they're usually more of a pain in the ass than they're worth. Reduction in demand combined with an end to the "no kill" nonsense is what we need.

I like dogs, but the insane demand for dogs is largely responsible for puppy mills.

thats what i posited months ago in some dumb dog thread and people didnt believe milling was a problem
they thought that their dogs and purchase of their dogs was somehow outside of the realm of influence on the milling industry
just goes to show how many stupid users we have that dont understand simple economic fundamentals like supply and demandZone Controller

I don't know any smart people with purebred dogs other than hunters. Most of them have a mutt or two as well. Who's buying these "fancy" dogs?

I have a purebred dog that speaks english pretty much. Didn't find what we wanted at the time in a kennel. To each their own. I do sometimes get the 'I'm superior vibe because I have a pound dog' when I am out and about with my dog and ask other dog owners about their dogs but I figure that is okay because dog people are usually good people even if they are stuck up assholes and want to look down on my choice of dog.

My buddy just got one. I am pretty sure it was precipitated by the mrs since she is a twat who is always trying to impress the other dooshnozzles at the private school she works at.
I don't have a dog, but when I do get one (when the kids get older), it will be a mutt from the pound. I mean, duh. They think I do not know a buttload of crap about the Gospel, but I do.

Thanks. They think I do not know a buttload of crap about the Gospel, but I do.

I got my mutts from ranches. I don't think they bred them for money, as they were dirt cheap and one was clearly an accident (very big dog and a small-ish dog must have had some awkward sex.)
I don't know what my level of guilt should be here? Am I OK?

You ought not to have dominion over a wild animal like that. You are not a god

There's good reasons to get either one (purebred or mutt). If you have a reason and you don't support puppy mills then rock on. Nobody's bidness but your own.

buying purebred is de facto support of puppy milling
through fulfilling demand you propagate milling and exploitation
i have 1st hand knowledge of these scourges milling puppies, its not prettyZone Controller

I understand the dislike of the puppy mills. I'm not a fan of them myself. My dog was a purebred lab and was the best damn duck dog possible. The problem I ran into was that I couldn't find an owner of a nice female to get a good pup from him. The snooty bastards at the puppy farms wouldn't use him because when I got him, I couldn't get the papers for him from the guy's wife as they were getting a divorce and she wanted to stick it to him. So even though he was purebred, no papers=no interest. Now he's gone and I'll never have another one like him. Sucks

This was Mike.
I will also say that one of the coolest dogs we had when I was a kid was from the pound.
