Hi all,

I'm going to be in Tahoe for a workshop next week and wanted to continue northbound to ski Shasta. California had a fairly wretched season, but Shasta seems to be holding up fine.

The guys at the Fifth Season suggested the north face of Shastina, an idea which I like very much. I have previously climbed and descended the mountain via Avy Gulch, the West Face, and the Hotlum-Wintun, all of which were great (particularly the latter two), so I'm hoping to try something new and poke around in the crater of Shastina this time around. I'm not dead set on it, but it would be my first choice. Going back up the Whitney glacier and skiing down the upper west face seems like a fun way to go, or camping at Hidden Valley, up Shastina, down Shastina, up the Whitney, and out...

If anyone is interested in driving up from Tahoe on the 12th, or meeting up at Shasta that weekend, let me know. I've climbed and skied Shasta solo before (Avy Gulch) but it's more fun with a partner.
