Broken climbing skin tip loop -- what's a temporary fix?

So the tip loop of my Black Diamond skins broke last weekend. It's the old style:

It broke on the side where it curves around the ski -- eventually the edges frayed away. I was not able to find the remnants.

In the field I cut some 5mm cord and tied it around the ski tips -- this did not work at all. I then used a Voile strap, which got me home.

My local ski shop does not have any in stock and I'm skiing both days this weekend. Anyone have a suggested temporary fix -- like coiling wire? It seems like it has to be kinda heavy to stay in place.

The voile strap will get you through the weekend...

I once made a loop using bike brake cable and a nut to fasten but then found my old loops and never tested it. I doubled up the cable

old bike chain? Sounds ghetto, but totally works in my head... ^ Was also thinking shifter or brake cable with some fastener.

Thanks. The best fit appears to be the coat hangar so I'll see how that goes. I like the bike chain idea but don't have an old one handy.

Or take a bicycle spoke and bend into an elongated rectangle shape of the appropriate width and you'll have a permanent solution. Put the open end of the rectangle inside the fold of your skin. While your at it get a "Speedy Stitcher" and sew the skin flap closed and trim the excess.

These are the best short term and long term fixes.

The screw-on tips are far superior, lighter, and less bulky.

I have some extra of those - I'd need to check the width though.

Thanks everyone. Turns out my local shop did have some in the spare parts bin and they let me have a used one for free. Problem solved.
