I recognize the stars, it's definitely Olympus Mons, Mars. It's always winter there.

I would say judging by the avalanche fences in the upper right that it is likely in Europe.

This question was asked late last fall if I remember right. Can't remember the answer though. I think it was France.

Google image search came up empty handed, except I saw a reflected version of the picture.
Pretty handy that the ski lifts show up on Google maps though
I think I found it!

The euros are probably chuckling at us NA'ers thinking we've discovered some quiet under the radar spot.
I don't know, unless I'm not looking at the satellite image properly, I think this is the real photo.

As a holder of a prestigious geography degree I toss a vote for Yurp not ruling out Scandinavia. But the Scandis wouldn't overdevelop like that, it feels more tacky mainland Euro style on account of the gaper friendly 20 cat wide trail.

I think the difference is the location where the photo was taken. In your photo klar you have a significant amount of foreshortening. The original was taken from more lookers right of the one you posted.

Austria is the land of "milk and honey!" When the kids go off to college the plan is to head back there for a winter and get this pass: http://www.snowcard.tirol.at Around 85 resorts covered on one pass. Spend a week or two in a small apartment in some of the concentrated areas - Solden, Ischgl, Innsbruck, Zillertal/Mayorhofren, Kitzbuhel, ski then hit another part of Tyrol. When you need a break, head south to northern Italy, Venice, Vernona…drink wine, eat Italian food and watch the world go by.
