Everest: Earthquake triggers Avalanche, Base Camp Devestated, 10+ dead, 40+ injured

Terrible tragedy from the 7.9 in Nepal where over 760 deaths are reported...

From the avalanche side, 1 or more massive avalanches hit the Everest Base Camp, causing death, destruction, and misery.

    10 deaths and 40 wounded

From what little I can find, the other 8000m peaks have reported OK. ABC, Camp 1 & 2 report OK. China side of Everest reports no injuries.

Hard to imagine how big the avalanche was, the base camp seemed pretty far away from potential dangers.

Friends who are at Base Camp reported in as safe. Whew!

    RIP and good luck.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

Did you notice people were getting into their tents when they seen the aviy coming, as if a tent would give them some protection, as it turns out it did the opposite

The teenage daughter of one of my bike buddies was trekking in the Langtang valley with a friend of hers when the earthquake, landslides and avalanches hit. Nobody's heard from either of the girls since, but their community trying their hardest to get in touch and get them back home if possible. That's considerably expensive so they've setup a crowdfunding page with any leftover funds going directly to aid efforts:

Praying for their safe return - no parents should have to bury their children.
