    Colorado in May

Headed to Fruita to ride bikes the second weekend of May, will have the following week to do whatever. We don't mind bigger day hikes or and several would like to get in some rides with grand views, less concerned with getting super gnar. No overnight hikes/rides. Some of the group don't ski so that is not an option. I'm mostly curious about what elevation we can expect snow and ideally how dry trails will be. Not concerned with two or three big drives throughout the week, the plan is to work our way east back to Denver and SW CO has been thrown around. What do the mags have to recommend for good hikes, good biking, scenic views, camp spots, and the best available recreational herb?

Have you heard back on this at all?

My boyfriend and I recently hiked in the Mt. Evans area and it was absolutely gorgeous. The trip to Mt Evans was definitely one of the highlights of the year for us

A-Basin got like 60 inches of snow last May. Bring your skis!

May can be hit or miss with snow. Some options for rides on the way back to Denver that I can think of:
Chutes and Ladders in Grand Junction
    The Peaks trail - Breckenridge

    Other non Biking Options.
    Ski/Hike Quandry Peak.
Drive south to Ridgway and go to the distillery and the hot springs
Hike up to hanging lake off of I-70.
Drive to Leadville and eat pizza at High Mountain Pies.
Drive down to Salida and ride bikes there. Lots of fun trails.
Ski Sundace in RMNP if Trail Ridge Road is open
Drive West and do some hiking/canyoneering in UT. Specifically little wild horse canyon and ding and dang canyons

    Hanging Lake

If you're going to be in Colorado in May, I would definitely do the Hanging Lake day hike. The closest town is Glenwood Springs.
