tool geeks: whats you favorite 5mm?
was setting up some mechanical disc brakes and I used 4 different 5mm allen keys. Right tool, for the right job.
After I counted, 8 different types that I use, and I'm sure I have a few more options, and backups too
whats your favorite 5mm?

So I've like, got some wrenches. Some of them are 5mm.
Those tend to the be best. For 5mm duties I mean.Besides the comet that killed the dinosaurs nothing has destroyed a species faster than entitled white people.-ajp

Performance. Easy to exchange under warranty if they strip, which they don't. And cheap, especially if on sale.
I use the Ritchey one with the torque feature on it. Sometimes. Wish they made ones with higher torque.

Harbor Freight sells a full Metric and Standard T-handled ball ended allen wrench set for about $17. For some reason, if you just by the metric, they don't have the ball end. Comes in a little labeled stand to keep it neat. Of course, the 2.5mm ball snapped off right away just tightening the lock on grip rings. Some of that was probably user error. It's not as nice as the $60 Park Tool, or even the $4 Sette T-handled ball ended 4mm I got from Price Point, but it works. IDK why, but PP only ever has the 4mm, not any of the rest of the set. It probably won't last 20 years.

Its nice to have a couple options for different jobs. A good T-handle is great to have, I like the Park ones for shape but they wear out with heavy use. I think i am going to try the Birzman set next as their t25 is the only one that i have found that lasts longer than a week in the shop. The Pedros Hex set is a must have, they are a little longer than average and last forever. A nice micro ratchet (72 points of engagement, yeah!) with tight pawls is awesome with a quality 5mm head on it as well.
a positive attitude will not solve all of your problems, but it may annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

You can put as much torque into them as you'll ever need on a bike. Bolt will strip before you have issues with the joint.
I like them in that you can spin them when straight then fold the head for torque.

Bundhus ball end set for torquing and my skil cordless electric screwdriver with bit of choice. Thing is just nice for stem bolts and the like that have long bolts x4
I wear crocs for the style, not the comfort.

Im a big fan of the Wera and PbSwiss hex keys. I started switching over, after having the Park ones wear out. I'll never go back.
