Are those stock EXPs? Curious to hear your feedback about them. Thinking about pulling the trigger on some myself.

They're 3 flex. Not sure when I'll get on them . Probably next week. Fat skis today and tomorrow. Mounting at -1.

Mounted. Skis flat were a c hair under 6.25 lbs so both stiffer(3 flex as opposed to 2) and lighter than advertised stock

I think you're right. That makes sense. All the skis I've picked up from praxis have been a little bit lighter than advertised. Not much but a little, and these are a touch more than .25 lb lighter so must be standard build. Hard to believe they could be stiffer and lighter at the same time.Just looked and couldn't find the flex listed. Keith said he was testing them on the hill in alpine bindings in a stiffer flex, so maybe that's where I got confused

    Windmills vanquished....

Impression after one day of admittedly mostly groomer skiing: the ski kills it. Seriously. Even after applying a generous discount for my general Praxis-fan-ship. Skis great. Feels very natural. Build quality is gorgeous. More in the next day or two when time allows.

One quick practical comment - depending on your jig, etc, etc., etc. -- pay attention to the asymmetry when mounting...

Where did you mount? If you have other similar Praxis (gpo/rx/MVP/protest) where did you mount those?

This is a critical point I could have overlooked. Take note of this MYOFS people - derive your midpoint at the shovel and tail and use a long straight edge of snap line to draw the center line.

Mounted on the line (which I believe is -7 from center). Felt perfect there.

I like GPO & MVP on the line. Protest & PB on or a shade ahead. In response to my questions, Keith pitched mounting on the line for the Quixote.

Took them to the hill today to show some friends around. Today was my forth day in a row after 3 pretty good pow days but I was itching to try the exp's. Didn't expect much today but thought I'd have to be on it to keep up especially with the mix of chop , soft pack and refrozen groomers. Skied them with my tlt6's. Actually I pretty much expected to get my ass handed to me but it'd be a good way to find the skis limits. I really didn't suffer much at all. They bounced around a bit because of the light weight but that's to be expected. I guess it's the pintail but they float amazing and I was pushing thru the chopped like nothing. Ez to break the tails loose helped. To compare I think they float better than my pj's and my pj's carve a bit better on a groomer. Impressive design. I can't believe how comfortable I was able to charge in the pow and chop and tight trees. Looking for snow in tight spots and not taking the ez outs. Really liked my yetis but these float better and I can charge more. Release the tails and turn them up on the side in surf mode and the shovels stay up also because of the pin tail. I thought they'd be good for their design purpose but I didn't imagine they'd be a variable pow crusher. Faster speeds in some bumps I was pushing through the ski but that was smooth zone fast into moguly zone with speed. I was apprehensive with the ski having less rocker than all my others but the tapers and pintail do it. I usually detune to taper and continue feathering it till rocker but these I detuned until rocker and feather a touch past that. I was thinking they'd be better carving on the groomers mounted on the dimple and maybe they'd still float as well but after today I don't want to fuck with them. Pretty sure I'll use them more than just spring. Still in disbelief how good they were in pow. Trying to figure out if I had a good stretch or sleep but it can only be the ski. Like to hear more people's thoughts. I think Keith has something with this design
Haha forgot after all that , yes 173. Can't wait to see what you think

A few Quixote thoughts, haven't skied them yet.

Mount - I ride the GPO at -1, so keith says do the same with the Quixote.

Rocker is more subtle and gradual then either the GPO or BG.

I can't find a Vipec template in a format with which I'm familiar online. I want it to look like jondrums and have some BSL markings...If you have a good paper template, send it to me...

But even so, I'm probably gonna let Evo or proski drill the holes for the Vipec and then I'll just glue and screw. And figure out an sth or warden mount around the Vipec mount. Plan to swap for a tecton at the first opportunity.

    Some terrible photos.

I'd verify with Keith as far as finding the center line of the ski. spindrift's comments in post #1608 woke me up to this (not that I have any Quixote's yet).

I found problems with both the Wildsnow and Powderguide templates when I checked last year, and as a result, I drew my own. I've attached a link.

Edit: it made sense to move the details about the template to the Vipec thread. I'm leaving the link to the template here, as well as adding a link to the post on the Vipec thread. The documentation on the template was a bit unclear. If you downloaded it before 24-Jan, re-download it to get the current version.

    The template: http://galibierdesign.com/images/oth...Vipec_Thom.pdf

Thanks for throwing up the pics chicken... The rocker def looks very gradual and there does not appear to be much tail rocker... It will be interesting if they will be loose or a little locked in on turns...

Modest pretty long camber. Not super burly. Squeezes out pretty easily. That reveals a gentle tail rocker that is longer than it first appears.

I told Keith I thought it skied like the best of the GPO, Protest, and Concept. He responded that the design blended a bunch of the GPO and RX handling. I'm sticking with my subjective initial reaction of how it skied... (based on one mostly groomer day)

Pix if I get a chance later...

That's what I had concluded. Slarvy sweetness agility and predictability of the GPO meets the rage of the RX. So...yeah. That's why I bought it.
