Two broken pivot heels in one season? Snapped steel carnage inside

Pretty sure this isn't a common failure. Has it happened to anybody else?

Silver heel broke early this season while carving on a groomer and was two seasons old. It had been in a very hard and awkward crash that broke a toe piece a few weeks before that I figured may have done the damage. Green heel is only 3 months old and broke while skiing some nasty bumps. Neither broke during a crash...just skiing along. I only weigh 145 and set my dins at 8. Can't figure out why this is happening but i'm starting to question my choice in bindings.

It's odd that they both broke at the same spot. Were they mounted at the same shop?

weird, never seen them break like that. Interesting that they did it in the same place. What were you doing when the break happened? both on the same foot?

Pretty sure I was using an older pair of full tilts that were fairly worn when the silver one broke. Green ones I was wearing a fairly new pair with the rubber soles in pretty good shape. They were not mounted by the same shop and I was just skiing along when both broke.

I imagine a rep wouldn't mind getting hold of those to send back to HQ and maybe compensating you for your time.

had this happen at the same spot on one fks, the other one of the pair also showed cracks, would have broken soon after.
saw the same thing a few times until now. always happened after a lot (>200 days) of use, figured thats where they break if they break. probably possible to replace the part, but i havent found it yet.

Two broken pivot heels in one season? Snapped steel carnage inside

I have a pair of old ZRs where the same piece broke, just higher up on the posts next to the threads. One side back in 2011, the other side a few days ago (4 years later almost to the day). I have a box of salvage pivot parts, no big deal to swap that piece out. A few minutes on Sunday afternoon put the bindings back in production....
    focus.

Are those both from the ski you normally have on your right foot?
