I've skied Alta a few times... went out there from the top of Collins chair... it was fun... am I missing something? Or was it just decided to be the best spot to start a ski off down to the base?

Its the resorts "signature" run. It has a nice consistent pitch and good fall line. Now that they removed the road its even longer (but the bumps at the very bottom SUCK now).

It is obvious you weren't there at 11. If you had taken photos alledgedly leading up to rustler, it would be a reasonable assumption that you would take another pic. You did not.

Can anyone tell by the sun in DD's photos whether or not, it would be likely that that the photo was taken around 11am?
