Can't find a decent shell. What do you like?
Time for a new jacket. Been looking since last October. There's nothing out there that fits the bill for me. I need something that has a lot of internal pockets to store phone, sandwiches, change of socks for the lady, keys etc.
I want it to have a tech liner that reflects body heat back, pit zips ,a hood cut for a helmet, breathe well & doesn't look Karbon or Spyderish and it'd be real nice if it covered my ass since a lot of my skiing seems to be in the negative digits.
What are you liking?

isnt Columbia the only inner refelctive liner? does it actually work? does that not defeat the purpose of a shell? I could imagine a ton of days where that would make me to hot.

Or vanguard or many others on SAC
I need to go to Utah.
Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?
So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....
Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

We tend to test the lighter weight, performance shells. Stuff that works good on the way up and down. Let me know if you have any questions. All the above our team was stoked on this season..

There are a lot out there, but for me my Patagonia Untracked is hands down the best shell I have ever owned... I did not think I could like a shell more than my a Primo, but try Untracked made all of my other shells sit in the closet...

What's your price range?
Arc'teryx Theta is great but will put a dent in your wallet.
If you're looking for something cheap the best bang for buck IMO is the FlyLow Higgins. I just picked one up off S&C for $95. I'm digging it for that price!

I got an Orage Retallack jacket this year and I love it. It's very long in the sleeves and torso, I need 37" sleeves on a shirt or jacket and this is the first jacket I've had that covers my butt and doesn't gap when sitting on the lift. The offset zipper is great. Interior pockets are nice and the chest pockets are nice too. It sheds water like crazy and is very waterproof, a good thing this season in WA.

You might pm the owner who has been out skiing in it. I think he says
the hybrid is coming in like 400g. There are two weights and versions: hybrid , hardshell
LImited time around the $200 mark
These colors and more to come...

I generally think shells are massively overpriced and tend to pick up lightly used ones for just a fraction of the new cost. I bough two "looking like new" Sweet Protection shells last fall for just over $100 and they are the best I have ever had.
Favorite now is: Sweet Protection Supernaut Jacket.

I have a flylow quantum (believe the new version is called quantum pro?) that I have been very happy with.
Ticks all the boxes on your list except the reflect thing on the inside I think..
Worth looking into!

I was a former gear swap buyer for all my ski apparel and using it almost everyday living in the mountains. Here's what I found....
if I bought something NWT or NWOT it was fine as long as the fabric was not some inferior crap. 1. If the garment was well loved and
used most of the DWR was worn off (this is your first defence against wetting out and membrane failure and non breathability),
2. usually if garment had not been washed and was a hardshell with tricot or a nylon lining the pores were clogged and garment would not breath and I sweated like a pig,
3. and if the garment was washed often the membrane was in failure mode and I sweated like a pig in it and it sucked.
Numbers 2 and 3 were what I found most often for sale in gear swap for $100 range or less. #1 with some off brands...and all these scenarios combined with lack of features I needed pushed me from making webbing carry systems for hike to country travel to making technical garments and achieving clients such as ABC News Worldwidewww.freeridesystems.com
