About Damn Time - Mammut to offer 30% off Avi Classes w/ Purchase of Gear..

We just published an article titled - Mammut Wants to Keep You Alive in Avalanche Terrain

    http://mtnweekly.com/mountain-lifestyle/mammut-wants-keep-alive-avalanche-terrain

In case you don't feel like clicking over to my site, Mammut is offering 30% off an avalanche safety class with the purchase of any beacon or airbag.

This is a rad first step!!

Now what if we could convince retailers to not sell splitboards, or at setups to people without showing an Avi cert? Giving people the tools and the access without providing any background or teaching is surely going to continue to get people killed in the mountains..

First of all you don't get a "cert" for taking a Level I Avalanche course. There's a lot more to traveling safely in the backcountry that ticking off the box of having your "Avi cert". What if someone has been traveling safely in the backcountry for decades and the want a new set up but don't have an "avi cert"(whatever the fuck that is)? Do you deny them the ability to buy a new binding? Stupid.

It's nice that Mammut is doing this but you know they're doing it to sell more beacons right?
