Sierraskier,
Thanks again for letting a stranger join the trip. Good times for sure.
Looking forward to the next trip to AK along with meeting up in Fruita.

Well, considering Haines is in a Winter Storm Warning I would say pretty good.

I'm considering a trip as well so I'm watching the Numbers. Right now haines Customs has more than 50% more precipitation in November than usual.
Juneau is at twice the average. They got some base building going on in south east AK.
edit: an may I say how ridiculously filled in Venue looks in that shot from April compared to when we were there in 2013!!!It's a war of the mind and we're armed to the teeth.

Base building continues....Reports of impressive snow totals, even at mid-elevations...
"SIGNIFICANT SNOW IS POSSIBLE ALONG THE KLONDIKE AND HAINES HIGHWAYS MONDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY. PROLONGED PERIODS OF SNOW THROUGH MID WEEK COULD RESULT IN 12 TO 18 INCHES OF NEW SNOW IN HIGHWAY PASSES BETWEEN MONDAY AND WEDNESDAY. SEVERAL FEET OF HEAVY NEW SNOW AT EVEN HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE CHILKAT AND NORTHERN COASTAL MOUNTAINS MAY INCREASE THE AVALANCHE DANGER LATER THIS WEEK."

Z, how about an update on Haines? Just started combing through recent obs and forecast on HAIC and it looks like there might be a deep PWL?

Just off an incredible 4 day bluebird cycle to start the season. We've tracked a mixed SH/facet/mixed form layer down 80-120cm, but it's not propogating in long column tests and unreactive. Lots of steep lines skied the past 2 days. Almost as good as it gets. Deep snowpack this year, alders are crushed down low, up high is as caked as i have seen in my time here. I'm slow to get my camera out getting back into guideguy mode but ill try to post up what i have.
Drive slow, homie.

Maybe start a 2016 thread where we can drool over pictures while we are waiting to get there?

Hopefully skiing the pass next saturday/sunday morning before boarding the ferry to Juneau... Any beta on general stability would be much appreciated!
