Mine burst in the middle of summer but I was fucked up for a long, long time. That doesn't really address your issue but this is the fucking internet. Anyway, my advice is to just chill, munch painkillers and see how things develop - you'll know more in a couple weeks.

Had mine yanked a handful of years ago. I was back working in the woods after a week. I healed up pretty quick. You will know when you are feeling up for some mellow laps.

Like rockinB, 1-2 weeks and then back to work in the woods. Kick the painkillers asap. You only need them for a day or two.

Limit the pain killers to Tylenol of you can, otherwise you'll be super constipated

Why do you think the doc said 4 weeks?
But you know better?

The tissues are not fully healed at 2 weeks,and you can rip stuff open

I strictly remember the doc saying no heavy lifting for a couple weeks. Possibly worried about a hernia, even though I was working after a week, I was taking it mellow. If I was you, just see how you are feeling. Don't go crazy right away and if it still hurts lay off for a few more days.

Nothing over 10 lbs for 3 weeks. Take it real easy if you decide to ski. Hernia risk, even laparoscopically done.

Thx all, will err on the cautious side. Sitting is tough for me but will get through it.

Allready cancelled a Park City boys trip that was scheduled for Mid march.

Hopefully the snow gods will save me a sunny spring weekend later in the month.

On the plus side im feeling good with only regular Tylenol and just took a healthy dump!

laparoscopically you should be good in a week or two. The sutures, which are as strong as the scar tissue will be in 4 weeks, last about 3 months. Just don't do what hurts. Start slow, stop when your body says stop, and don't blame me. (Look up some of the athletes who have had appendectomies, including many open appendectomies, and were back in a week or two.)

One of my partner's patients came to see me for an early return to work release after an open hernia repair (my partner was in the OR that day). Kid was a warehouseman. I was skeptical so I told him to pick up the 100# electrocautery unit. He did. I signed.
