    Carving ski help ? 14-15m Turn Radius ? 178cm ?

    TGR tech talk,

    Piste-performance ski help needed...
I know all about powder skis - but for this kind of thing I am clueless
Looking for something that is a slalom / GS hybrid.
Something between a proper slalomn ski (12m TR) and a GS ski (17m TR).
Not a FIS race ski - but a solid "piste performance" ski.
One that can be used for carving and instructor exams.
In my head the following stats sound like what I am looking for.....

    14-15m turn radius
    175-180cm <ish>
    70mm <ish> under foot
    Maybe some piste rocker ?

Anyone know what this ski is ?

Yes, when I read this first ones I thought of are the Fire Arrow 74 and 76 series. I demoed one of them a few years back and it was a fun ski. It is not a rockered ski though.

    Also found these:
    Stockli Laser AX
    Sidecut:123/78/110
    Turn radius:15.8@175

But like most Stockli's they will most likely be a bit pricey compared to some other brands.

not to hijack, but do you guys know of a ski like this (trench-digging frontsider) in a 90+ waist?

    ^ the old K2 sideshow ?
not sure what they replaced it with in their 14/15 line up but I am sure they have something ?

funny you ask - cause most 90mm skis these days are soft and aimed for intermediates....
which sucks if live somewhere with hard snow conditions.
older skis like dynastar legend 8800 or Movement Thunder were ideal for ripping hardpack.

I had a chance to demo the Rossi Pursuit's and found them way more fun than I was expecting. The Salomon X-drive were similarily entertaining

Völkl Code Speedwall L (or S) Uvo. depends on what radius you want, could be that ski. tip/tail rocker and camber. perhaps the Salomon X-Race fits the specs you mentioned better, also worth a look. i prefer Völkls, but thats simply fueled by Amersports hatred.

if lighter or lighter-on-skis, older Fischer Watea 94 from 07/08 era worked well for me, no metal, snappy with great edge hold and fun when softer too.

    Wateas are underrated for sure.

    Fischer: great skis, shitty marketing.

True. Great skis and great construction. Most durable skis I've owned.

Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

Yup. Been skiing across rocks and patches of dirt all season on some Watea 106s and they are holding up great.

    Carving ski help ? 14-15m Turn Radius ? 178cm ?

    Élan Amphibio 14.
You mentioned instructor exams. This ski can demo anything, at speed or slow--because your DCE will want both.
I did A2 with it, and some national Demo Team guys say this is your A3 cheater stick. It feels like it.
This years model gets a complete facelift for 2016, so if your looking to buy between now and seasons end, find out who your regional rep is and buy up a demo pair. Around here they're gonna go cheap, and prolly fast. Or check online this summer when they try to clear everything out.

Forgot about this ski, an instructor friend has a pair. They rock. I skied the 168 (!!!!) and felt like I wouldn't want much more ski. And I normally ski a 177+ on something like this.

stop it, you're going to put a damper on test-candidate new ski buys, you're killing the sport, you're preventing its growth, you're pining for its doom.

besides, what would philpug have to say to counter this Sport-Assassination-Gambit you're on? you know how hard he works to make every ski sound perfect for every skier despite skier or ski quirks/differences? you're gonna give the weeble a god-damned aneurysm. then Epic will have no content written, and StartHaus will need a new Joey Weil for its staff.
