It will be different. Can't imagine who would be a replacement, he did what he did so well.

Maybe Craig Ferguson?

I like Bill Maher but he can be a polarizing asshole. He's a good fit where he's at.
Craig Ferguson...god I hope not. Never got that guy, although I never really gave him a chance.
Edit: John Oliver was great when he filled in. I could see him coming back, but like what he's doing now on HBO. Although, I could see him coming back for a daily gig instead of the weekly thing.

John Oliver is already doing it IMO. I bet he gets a 3-5 night a week gig here soon as the rumors would indicate.
Might be hard to pull off the detail they are currently doing though."These are crazy times Mr Hatter, crazy times. Crazy like Buddha! Muwahaha!"

Kilborn fan but don't think he fits what the show has become.

Jon Stewart leaving the Daily Show
Craig Fergusan would be great, but he's got some game show in production
Oliver's contracted to HBO for a while.
Big shoes to fill. At least a few more months to enjoy. Hey, Letterman will be free by then!

Sad news. Especially as the clown show of the Rep. Primaries begin.

Jon Stewart leaving the Daily Show
The Daily Show requires an American host in order to not appear self-righteous. Unfortunately, the only people I can think of that can be both dry and funny are Brits. Steve Coogan, Stephen Merchant or, and he would be an epic talk show host, Eddie Izzard.

Comedy Central has to be reeling a bit losing their two biggest stars within a year.
I wonder if they will try to keep Stewart's replacement in-house.
My list of contributors/correspondents to the show that may be able to pull it off:
Jason Jones - his "investigative" segments are usually really good. He has done a good job subbing for Stewart in the past. Comedy Central could put a spin on the Daily Show and have a husband/wife co-anchors (Samantha Bee).
Lewis Black - May be a bit over the top, but he pulls off the grumpy old guy shtick really well.
Mo Rocca - still working in "news" related endeavors.
Aasif Mandvi - I typically like his work and he is quick witted.
Rob Riggle - He can be very funny but I feel he has a hard time ever being serious. A tone that Stewart is excellent at conveying when required.
Brian Unger - It's been a long time since he was on TDS, But he was really good and he has production experience as well.
Ed Helms - Doing mostly movie work currently but possible he might come back.
Josh Gad - although his acting career is doing very well right now.
Steve Carell - his acting career is doing very well right now as well.Aim for the chopping block. If you aim for the wood, you will have nothing. Aim past the wood, aim through the wood.

No. I'm not basing my opinion on movie characters.
But if we look at movies, I look towards one's he's actually had a hand in creating, like Philomena, i.e. difficult topics with humor injected.
Plopping dudes like that one-note turd Rob Riggle and Lewis "We get it Already - you are angry all the time at everything even though you a rich white dude" Black in front of people every night is going to start annoying more people than just me.

Mo Rocca would be a good fit, if he's willing to work his ass off.
