    this is sick!
as if we needed any reminder that tGD are the greatest American band ever.
last night in the city, they synchronized the lights on the Empire State Building, to the U.S. Blues, live from Chicago.
    that's nutz!

    So fkn cool.

I'm listening to the rebroadcast of last night now. Totally Bobs show wasn't it. I'm really going to miss Mickey and Billy playing together. The rest of them will do things together in the future I'm sure. They'll end up in the same place and get a chance to play with each other, it's just bound to happen but the drummers? I dunno but I'm gonna hope because they are just SO FKN GOOD and there isn't another pair out there that do what they do.

Are y'all ready? I'm gonna go grab some burger buns and more beer then fire up the PPV and get down with the boyz one last time.

I think if I had been in the stadium for that set I'd be a quivering mess and sitting on the floor recovering. Damn that was good.

    Got my July 4th plans!

Lots of quivering mess in that stadium after the show.

Nothing like the sights and sounds of a Grateful Dead show and the surrounding scene!

Kinda hard walking away at the end thinking this is it. Of course, while watching an out of his mind wookie spinning in the street catching the interest of six up!

I'm not one for regrets, but I really fucked this one up. Strange because I've been seeing Phil and Bobby since the GD end, but this is what I missed? Bad call.

Awesome run. My main takeaway is how much fun it looked for them to be playing together. Even Trey and Bruce riffing off each other, and Bobby hasn't sung like that in years.

    I bid you goodnight.

I would be happy to pay attention to any future Trey and Bruce collaborations. Bruce rocks. I miss Jerry and Bruce jamming. But on a brighter note we just bought our first electric piano. My youngest is the primary user. He has been wanting a full set of keys for a while now. The Yamaha P35 is very affordable and sounds surprisingly good.

Are the official video files of the shows archived somewhere? I'd love to watch/listen to the real mix, not just taper uploads.

Was I the only one cringing as trey's voice cracked like a pubescent teenager during foolish heart on Saturday? I would have rather been listening to Donna wail.

I did enjoy trey on guitar, but Kimock would have been my pick.

yeah i knew on Friday night, that i fucked up not being there.
that was the show, however i think the best they sounded was last night on Mountains of the Moon>Throwing Stones.
the full band improv on Mountains into the slow building TS, which by the time Trey was peaking the jam, i felt like punching myself.
    so good.
Kimock? please guy, Trey made this! without him it doesn't happen.

I would say the three shows in Chicago were not perfect. I would never have chosen Phil to sing anything that was not his song. I think Bobby had problems keeping up with Trey and got frustrated.

However, being there and taking it in with all senses more than made up for it. The vibes of the guy next to you, the fireworks, the lot, the city streets ruled by heads, four star hotels packed with rowdy loud fans, local bars catering to everyone of us made it more than worth whatever imperfections might have happened on stage. The vibe in Chicago was that the Grateful Dead came to town and took over.

If there is anything that bugs me its that Phil sang my favorite Terrapin Station. They should have let Trey.

I think the 30 year catalog was well covered over the course of these shows. I understand why they didn't want to play too many covers (Dylan, traditional, etc ).

I would have preferred Duprees or Cosmic Charlies to WBOTB, but that's minor.

The DB down at MPP for Dear Jerry wasn't half bad. Note taken. As an aside and as commented in the Dear Jerry thread, what was lacking at the Dear Jerry show was the momentum from song to song, Obviously that was not totally lacking with the Treyful Dead.
