Do you guys not understand what a strategic stake is?
It is nowhere near the same thing as a majority share, or a merger, or anything like that.
Shit, for a large, publicly traded company it could mean 5%. I'm guessing in this case it means 15 or 20. Depending on how the owner of that stake behaves, they could have little to no effect (long term investment, let the company keep doing what it's doing) or it could be like Toyota doing its best to fuck up Subaru. It's looking like the former here. HC/CJ would have nothing intelligent to add here.
    No longer stuck.

A good friend owns a hotel in Guatemala. LP wrote him up as the place to stay on Lake Atitlan. He is now fully booked 365 days and has his room rates over $50 a night. I guarantee no hippie is going to wonder down the trail from Jaibalito and think they discovered a cool, cheap place to stay.

Tony Wheeler was one of the originals, writing "Across Asia on the Cheap" how to survive the hippy trail from Istanbul to Nepal on less that $5 a day, mostly where to get the next visa, where to catch a bus ,and cheap places to stay. That became Lonely Planet, and I still find their guides to be the best available.

3amazing facts in the Outside article.
Lonely Planet was losing money. They make the best guidebooks, they arent cheap, and they pay the writers very little.
They hired a 25 year old wedding photographer as CEO.How crazy is that.
    He can really ski

TGR bought by a wild 20 something, lonely planet saving ( supposedly ) followed by " nothing is going to change, we are still rowdy Mtn. stoke porkers" this should be similar to the Mcrib coming back to Mcdonalds.
